When Installing Underdrive Pulleys..
Im having new underdrive pulleys put on the car. But ive read a couple places that some people buy a shorter belt that doesnt go to the a/c or smog pump. Would it be worth it to do an a dd? My a/c doesnt work, and its getting cold here so i dont need that until next year, but what about the smog pump? I live in indiana, so i dont have to worry about any emissions. Just didnt know if it was ok to leave those out?
Thanks

that will have to be something to do at a later time. This is the only car i have to drive at the moment, and it cant be down for much time because i commute 20 minutes to school everyday. I will read up on it, and see what it takes to remove and plug the system. Will i notice any gains at all for not running the a/c and smog?

alright thanks guys. i appreciate the feedback. i just didnt know with the pump still being on there with everything else, if it would screw anything up with the pump not being driven by the belt. So, looks like ill be going with a shorter belt... anyone know what size it will need by chance?

whenever you run a belt pass the smog pump, dont follow the same belt routing. if you do it stock routing, youll have a sharp turn from alternator pulley, from the tensioner to water pump, so what you ahve to do is goto alternator -> crank -> water pump and such, and make sure when you put the belt on your tensioner is in range, make sure its close midways or a little past midways to being too tight, because itll stretch a bit once it wears in.
