My 95 Mustang
I just registered to ask this question.
I bought a 95 GT with the 5L and 5 speed, it has 103k miles on the frame. The heads were changed out around 70k (supposedly). I had to change the valve cover gaskets last weekend, and I noticed that these were Ford heads, but are not the stock ones like I have sitting in my garage, that came with the car. I believe these are GT40 heads because they look very similar from the oictures that I have seen. They are rollors, if it makes any difference. It has stock 19lb injectors. When he changed the head, is there a good chance that he changed the cam? Do I need bigger injectors to go with the heads?
I have been noticing very low power from idle to about 3000 rpm, but as soon as it is around 2750-3000, it really picks up and nearly spins the tires in the first two gears. At idel, if I don't have the engine fully warmed up and turn on the AC, the engine dies. Are there any reasons that this should be happening? I am using 93 octane fuel, so I am sure it isn't that it isn't getting the octane it needs, I am hoping it isn't the cam because it would take a lot of work to get to it, and if it is the fuel injectors, anybody have some they would be willing to sell me with a pump?
My dad has an 86 gt and it has gobs more power at the low end, and it is completely stock, so I don't know what to do because I am not going to go racing this, and other than that one really doesn't exceed 3000, much less constantly red line it.

RE: My 95 Mustang
Time for a dyno tune.
You'd be amazed at what a computer can find in minutes... you may be fighting days or weeks to figure out guessing... not to mention new parts that you never needed and may be buying in hopes of solving the issue.
Probably the prior owners put these mods on it, couldn't get it smoothed out so they sold the car. A dyno tune can see with kind air/fuel mixture you have and see what going on a the low end.

Does it have a rough idle? Heads alone wouldn't cause it to not have low rpm torque, unless the intake ports are way too large and you lose your intake charge speed, but even then it shouldnt be that bad. I'd guess it had a cam change

yes, it does idle fairly rough, but not real bad. What is an AFPR? And does anyone know where I can find a dyno in the NW suburbs of Chicago?
So what size injector should I go with? 30, 36, 42? And which fuel pump for which?
Thanks for the help so far, I really dug myself into a hole with this one, I just want a normal street car that I could actually pass people in, unlike my last car (1986 Audi 400CS, it had less than 95 horsepower from the factory).

It has a Autozone version of the high flow filter with the cold air induction system.
I've got a bigger problem that just aroze. I am not holding any pressure in the radiator, the gauge is fluctuating and I'm leaking from somewhere.
