gas gauge doesnt move!!

i have a 89 mustang 5.0 and since ive bought it ive realized the gauge gauge stays right in the middle and hasnt moved a bit.. I was notified of this when i bought the car..So ive been working off the odometer... What do you think this could be? The gauge gauge itself? Sending Unit??? Any ideas would be greatly apriciated..

its a common problem you need to repalce the sending unit
