Default power steering question

is there a way to slow down the power steering? i mean to make it not so power. power assist is maybe a better term. i was thinking maybe a different size pulley on the pump. i don't want to get rid of power steering altogether. does anyone know why Ford power steering pumps are so noisy?

yes, a larger pully on the power steering will slow it down

in my experience, every 5.0 power steering pump ive seen has been noisy

If it the pump with 362k, maybe it's just worn out...PS pumps to make noise, perhaps try changing the fluid with some syn.
