Default Any truth to this engine related stuff??

got this email...some of this stuff i have never heard of, especially going from flat tappet to roller cam setups..never had an issue with sbc...

anyway, 1985 302 mustang engine
i plan on buying all new engine components from summit racing...so, i'm not sure if this even matters, or if its tre...fill me in.
heres the email.

if your going roller you cant use the block, no valley hold down plate nor taped holes to hold the grider down,, you could have a machaine shop tap em , pluse the engine (might) run oppsite way,, certain eaelier 302 ho are tappit motors but run clockwise i know 82 and 84 most did 85 not sure, the rollers run counter clock wise, if its oppsite, remeber to change the timing cover and water pump from a newer 302 and rember to put a roller 5.0ho cam... differnt firing order all together,, some are inter linkable be carb set up , but if reversed the water pump will not work or timing cover, forunfd this out back in sumer from my engine swap, was going to get a reguar 5,0 or 83 302 but had to swap it all over to much work, just keep this in mind when you do it,,,, got a foord racing smog pump delete pully if it has smog, you going fuel injected? got 2 entire stock intake and injectors,,,, keep this in mind, t tops go with full length sub frames connector, will crack the window in passenger side and rinke body there too, if not used over 300 horse.. and the doors are the same as convertiables, i see people say t top doors are rare and want like 400 a door there retarded lol,, and at all possible if a dail driver convert to a aod trans for the over drive if running a 373+ gear the c4 sucks the gas with 373 in 3rd at60mphat 2900 rpms , get anoying if you got flowmasters after 30 miles lol,, find a ford thunder bird disk brake out a junk yars like a 88ish super cupe, factory 355 and 373 all ready to bolt in

... LOL

'85+ blocks (casting numbers starting with E5, E6, etc) would be "roller ready" blocks.

Pre'E5 blocks require the use of link lifters to be able to run a HR cam, the spyder retrofit kit will only work with small base circle cams in "non-roller blocks".

All of them run in the CW direction, he may be referring to the water pump, which in serpentine belt OEM setups, runs in the CCW direction, but not the engine.

If it's an AOD 85 engine it's flat tappet. 5spd would have the roller cam.

You'll have to do a roller conversion.
