Water Pump Gasket

Water Pump Gasket
I keep blowing water pump gaskets on my 1984 Mustang LX. I have a brand new 3 row radiator with a 16 pound cap. My water pump along with my timing chain cover are brand new. I have a brand new thermostat, and housing. All of my hoses are fresh as well as my coolant. My car never seems to overheat, I just seem to be having a problem with pressure. I have thought of the possibility of my gauge being broken. But, I've blown the water pump gasket 30 seconds after having the car on. So, I can rule out the possibility of it overheating. It took a while for me to realize my overflow tank had a calcium deposit and wasn't even collecting fluid. I tried to break it up but couldn't, so I bought an aluminum racing one off of summit. It's not vented and I'm wondering if the whole time a good overflow application might solve my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've used Fel-Pro gaskets each time. I started off using like a black paper gasket. After that blew I figured just a bad install and a weak gasket. But the Fel-Pro gaskets aren't doing anything different. I don't know much about the engine considering I bought it as is. I've been putting money into other areas of the car. Me living in Michigan I'm hoping to pull the engine this winter and find out more about it. But, I'd like to beat on the car and not worry about my water pump gasket.

if you are trying to remove the timing cover too , you need to remove the 4 bolts on the underside of the oil pan that go up into the timing cover

use rtv, tiz the gasket maker
P.S. be patient, its a free website with free advice. if you want it fixed and an answer ASAP take it to a mechanic. if you need help in order to do it yourself, just give it time, people do answer

Well the fact that people post in my thread and get an answer faster than I do is ridic. But thanks for the advice. I'll try doing the torque wrench deal. Haven't ever torque'd the bolts down to spec.

it might help. also make sure the mating surface is clear of debri. sometimes remnates of old gasket/rtv can cause gasket blow out. i know it sounds retarded but make sure its the right waterpump and gasket.
