Default I need GT40P advice...

I found a set of GT40P heads for $225. I am considering buying these. I know I will need new headers so that my plug wires do not burn. My question is what else should I do at this time? Should I get a cam? Intake? Which ones? I don't want to do double labor if I can easily swap a cam and another cam will greatly improve the performance.

95GT stock. I am purchasing a KN CAI and flowmaster 44's. This is a daily driver, but i want to unlock as much HP as possible and maintain drivability, for now. At least until the kids get a little older. I am sure i wont be getting any older so this will continue to be a fun ride for me.

Please give any ideas you may have all is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well get the appropriate headers for them heads, and I would buy a mild cam maybe one of the Ford Racing alphabet cams and if you can get your hands on a GT40 intake...or an Explorer intake...that should give ya a little bit of hp,somebody on here might have a little more info on what cam to get.

what you should do really all depends on your budget. its best to do the whole head cam intake swap all at once so your not tearing apart the top end more then once. if you wanted to go with long tube headers over shorties youd have to by the correct midpipe at the same time

Im doing this swap as we speak. Its my first i/h/c swap and its no easy task. I got the Gt40p heads, 1.6 Roller rockers, trick flow stage 1 cam, tfs upgraded valve springs for the higher lift cam, timing chain and sprockets, ford racings GT40p shorty headers, and all the necassary gaskets. I paid $100 for the Explorer heads and over $700 for everything else.

I havent experienced the results and seen the power gains yet, (cause im stripped down to the shortblock right now) but unless I pick up 50 whp, I dont think its worth the trouble. Get a real set of heads or a blower.

What are the average gains from GT40p heads?

Let me know how it goes. I am debating on the heads. I don't want to spend $1000+ on just heads. If I can get 300HP for under $1000 I would be happy. At a later date I would like to go twin turbo (much later). I seen the heads for sale and it got me thinking because I was going to spend $250 on some Flowmasters. I might just pick up the heads and do the exhaust at a later date. Get the heads and possibly intake now (depending on suggestions and price), and the cam next month. Have it all put on then. Got to follow the budget.

I wont have any solid numbers. I dont have any baseline info and probably wont dyno the car afterwords, but I'll post up my opinion once its all installed.

From what I've heard most people dont make 300whp with this setup, more like 280.

Does anyone with Gt40p heads have any real dyno numbers they care to share?
