Clutch pedal real heavy
I just replaced the quadrant and pawl (what a b#%^h) on my 90
with an aftermarket unit. Had to because it was stripped and the
pedal would go to the floor without engaging the clutch.
The clutch pedal does not slip but it takes a tremendous amount
of effort to press it.
Do I need a new cable or is it something worse?

you can try the firewall adjuster all the way in and all the way out and adjust back accordingly.
if neither really help try adjusting the clutch fork. on the bell housing.
also make sure nothing is in the way of your clutch cable thats pushing it in an odd direction that would make it bind up.
if none of those are working maybe your cable is rubbing through the sheeth its inside making it hard to push in. in which you would need to swap it out with another OEM clutch cable

I have a new clutch cable and firewall adjuster that I hope to install today or tomorrow.
Pretty sure that the cable is original equipment from 90. The pedal effort has always been rather hard but not this hard.
Is finding where the cable attaches to the tranny difficult? Thanks for your help.

jack up the car, look at the driver side of hte bell housing and its right there. pretty easy access.
i thought you already had the cable adjuster on, if not install that and try adjusting your cable...should make all the difference

well....mine has a threaded bolt on its. you dont really have much adjusted ment on it. but mine released right off the floor previously when i installed my CF DF. i dont have an adj quadrant and cable so i just unthreaded the bolt from the fork a few turns and now it releases about 2" off the floor where i want it.
edit....i dont think mine is the same as everyone elses.
im looking at new oem's online and it looks nothing like mine.
mine has a threaded bolt through the clutch form with an eyelet on the threaded bolt where the cable hooks on to.....does anyone elses look like this?
you may want to disregard my advice until someone can verify if this is what its supposed to look like.
