harmonic balancer removal help

Default harmonic balancer removal help

i bought the harmonic balancer puller, removed the pulley and bolt in the middle and tried removing the balancer but its so tight. i tried forcing it and it crack one of the holes for the pulley. how can i get this off? its soaked with spray. also any tips for matching the new one?

my best guess here would be that you're using the puller the wrong way. if you managed to crack one of the pulley bolt holes, you're doing it backwards. the balancer is pressed on, but almost half my experiences, a light tap from the back with a hammer is enough to knock 'em off.

89stanger....ok heres what I think may have happened? You pulled the bolt out...but did you pull the washer out? You maybe tightening the puller against the washer. Dont ask how I know this....LOL

wow the washer was in there lol. i just took it out and the balancer came out like nothing... thanks stangguy306 but i just thought of another question. can i fit a cam in there without removing the front end?

LOL No Prob...Yeah you can do a cam swap...but what cam is in it now...doing a cam in a car is huge pain...if you ask me....do you have AC?

it has the stock ho cam. no i dont have ac. the car doesnt have plates so i have time its just i dont want to have to update injectors and all that...

what are your mods? Cam swaps are a pain in the a$$...I usually try to do mulitple things while doing it cuz the timing chain cover sucks so do intake swap, injectors or at sametime? LOL

small blower, typhoon upper and lower, 70 shot, 30 injectors, and other small stuff. i will be making 400-450 after tune but i want the biggest cam for my setup without having to update injectors. this will be my first cam swap

Changing the cam involves a lot ot work, timing chain cover, upper/lower intake, install of the cam & new gaskets + I'd change the oil...It's a good 4-5 hour project...

what the? LOL I think I would ditch the NOS...sell it and sell your headunit...run a better headunit and leave stock cam...luckythirteen on here made 468 on this combo stock cam and stock block.
