First off I'd like to say thanks for reading this and being bothered with a newb.

So this is what I'm looking for:

5.0 stang gt or cobra between 1985s to 1992ish The foxbody style. No convertibles

I'm extremely interested in purchasing the car on ebay. The prices are quite right for me. My budget is around 5,000 to 7,500. I would like a nice running car preferably owned by someone older than 25-30 which would not be clear unless I called up the seller from ebay. I know a lot of people who have had success buying cars on ebay and honestly think it would be the best option for me. I am very skeptic too though. If the car did need work I want to spend at max half my budget to put the other half into the car. It will only be a weekend type car or very nice day need to take the car out kinda car. I have my ******* waggin for everyday use lol.

Anyway, If I do decide to go with a car from ebay, what's some decent after market parts I should look for in the car. I do want it to run well and have anywhere from 20k-100k mileage because I read that 100k for a mustang like that is just breaking it in. (Read in some thread here). I don't want to much repairing hassle, although I have the tools and resources to get the nessessary work done.

Anything else I left out please add on. Like I said thanks for reading this and trying to help me out

Greatly Apreciated,
Mike

Fox Body= 1979-1993
EFI Fox Body= 1987-1993
Cars up to 1988 (1987 in California) had speed density, while 1989-1993 (1988-1993 in California) had mass-air meters. Basically are two methods of telling the car's computer the amount of air entering the engine so it can tell how much fuel to add; Mass-air does a much better job in doing this, and responds better and recalibrates to bolt on upgrades.

So look for a 1989-1993. However, 1989-1992 had forged pistons, which were changed to hyperruetric in 1993.

Cobras were first made in 1993, and are a very rare find. Best look for a LX or GT.

I'm sure everyone here will fill in the gaps I've left and correct anything I've muffed up...

Hope this is helpful

cars up to 88 had speed density expect for california cars; they had mass air in 88.

Damn lol that cobra would have been nice. Oh well but thanks for the info. Im going nuts right now deciding on camaro or stang gt, someone just hit me with a tip from a guy with a showroom gt with 20k on it i might snag it for 4700 i have my fingers crossed if so camaro is out of the picture but i do like it. Only thing is they are a bit more pricey since demand is desent and they're no longer made. Anyway thanks again and hope to have this deal go through.

definitely get a 'Stang. nothing wrong the Camaro's, just, the 'Stang will be cheaper to mod(if its a 5.0). everybody else pretty much said everything you'll need to know. good luck. let us know what you get

I'm so ready to get this one showroom stang only thing is I just car faxed it and thank god for that! Miles said 20k and body really looked it engine too! I check car fax 90k! on 2002 and since the OD says 20k that means at least 120k on the car. I am a bit worried. I'm not looking to get an extreamly old car with a lot of problems maybe a bit of work but this guy lied to me and I think now what I want is your opinions to really low ball the guy or screw it all together.
