Default ok got a tps problem

no im not asking how to set it or what it needs to be set at. i know both of those. im sure someone will still post it again.

anyway, i drove around for about 3 weeks with the tps unplugged because it seemed to run better without it. well yesterday i plugged it back in and wanted to figure out what was going on. i reset the computer then checked to see what the tps was set at. it was at .97. this morning on the way home the car was acting funny. it idled great at start-up, but after driving for about 20 minutes i noticed that when i shifted the rpms didnt seem to go down. it was running around 2000 rpm without the pedal pushed. while going down the road a few times i took my foot off the gas and the car pretty much drove on its own like it was cruise control or something. my throttle wasnt sticking as i first thought. or at least it wasnt when i got home. after it set for about an hour i started it back up and it done the same thing, idled perfect then went crazy after going down the road a bit. only thing differently i done was plug the tps back in so i thought i would check it again. well i was getting .15. when i moved the throttle it would go up to about .20. thats far less than the suggested .98. 30 minutes later it was at .97. i did not move it at all and it went to correct voltage. a little later i checked it and it was at .15 again. i unhooked the battery for about half hour then checked again at it was back to .97

i know the tps is good. i know the meter im using is good. i know the wires are good as far back as i can follow them. what i dont know is why the voltage changes like that. could the computer be bad or acting up?

i know someone here had a problem just the opposite. they were getting a high reading when it should be lower. dont know if its something similar or not.
