Default BBK underhood CAI VS BBK fender CAI

whats going on guy's!

I have a couple extra peices of green paper with dead guy's on them laying around, and im thinking about this........

i currently have a BBK cold air intake, thats under the hood.
no heat shield or nothing!

infact, it even TOUCH'S the radiator hose.

ive done temp readings of the filter right after driving, and got it at 150-160*!!!
the rad house its touching will hit 180*+ obviously

so my logic is if i get a fender mounted CAI, that i might gain some power?

might be better for the engine and nitrous too?

what are your opinion's?

i can buy the new BBK CAI for $150, and sell my current for $50, so its not all that bad of a deal, im just wondering if i will see any real gains?

for $100 it will make your engine bay look a lot nicer and yea fender air is better than bay air. should have never bought the bay intake in the first place seeing as how the stocker gets its air from the fender. downgrade IMHO

i agree, id rather have the "chrome" tube going into the fender, then the HUUUUUUUGE filter sitting there........looks...........tacky

The only thing that bothers me is that chrome wears easily if you don't take constant care of it. Combine that with the heat generated in your engine bay and it can make those chrome tubes look like crap. I haven't bought one yet. I just went and got a functional cowl hood and called it a day instead.

do you think you would be able to but one of those 30 dollars kits from autozone and combine them to turn it into the fender. i dont have either just trying to give you an idea to do it cheap. or you could get the muffler shop to bend you up a peice with galvanized pipe, it would be rust proof and you can get it chrome diped if you wanted

I haven't had any issue w/ the chrome on mine and it's been on the car for a few years now.

go to americanmuscle.com and check out the knock off brand itake , its only like 50 bucks and performs just as well as any namebrand intake. I bought it for my car and i am very happy with it even more happier that i didnt spend 150 bucks for it!!!
