Default Issues with 89GT

my friend has a 89 GT, his dads friend did all the work... and butchered the poor ****ing thing...VAC lines everywhere running a muck and not even connected...

He has a Cobra Intake on it

His car idles like crap... up and down frequently stalls... damn shame cuz its a new motor also and the kid can;t even enjoy it cuz it runs so bad...

first thing i noticed... EGR is hooked up but no vac line going to it

Second thing i noticed... its a Mass Air car, but he still have hte vac line from the Manifold running to the MAP/BAP sensor... from what i understood that is supposed to be capped off so the BAP can take readings not from inside the manfold but from outside...

Third Thing i noticed.. is the back of the manifold... there is that metal piece that has three vac ports on it... 1 for the Fuel pressure regulator... 1 big one to the vac tree... and the other one was wide open no line going to it

4th thing i noticed... on a stock valve cover, the filler nect has that black tube coming off going into the Throttle Body... he has aftermarket Ford motorsport ones, and that black tube was coming off the Throttle body but it was plugged...

5th thing i noticed... the Distributer made the timing look retarted... the TFI module seemed to be to far to the retarded side of timing... mines at 14ish BTDC and his looked WAY off from the stock setting 10*BTDC

Wierdest part of it all, is that when i attempted to connect all the vac lines... the motor ran worse... and in most cases stalled...

i had a VAC guage on it and when the motor was steady it was pulling like 15-16 lbs of vac at idle... his idle was around 1200-1500rpms

i also tried taking the vac line off the BAP and capping it, but as soon as i capped it the ****er kept on stalling...

engine was just rebuilt... and all so i was leaning away from it being somthing like leaking intake valve... car didn't blow any smoke when revved so i ruled out head gasket... ran cool, volts were fine, oil pressure was up... ect...

this is one of those WIERD problems, i feel like only the simpliest thing will fix if any one has any advice to give please do... sur ehte kid will be happy.

sounds like your friend got what he paid for.........no vac line should be going to the BAP sensor and it stalls causeyou need to get the darrell lick that worked on it to fix all the vaccum leaks he created

LOL besides that... its jsut wierd to see the engine run better with the damn vac leaks all over then have it stall when the vac lines are connected..

^^^^trust me when you get everything connected where it is suppose to be it won't and if he has messed with the tps setting and idle set screws things are gonna be way off, sounds like a real mess, without looking at it he could have things connected that shouldn't be
