Default Onging starting problem..PLEASE HELP!

Problem: Car does not start once it reaches operating temperature. It will crank slowly sometimes...but it will crank fine other times...either way it will not start once it gets hot.

Signs: slightly stumbly idle, slight burning smell when the cars running nothing is visably burning, smoking, or melting. Oil pressure gauge goes pretty low when the idle goes down, and goes all the way to Zero when the RPM's go below 500 rpm. Other then that the car runs pretty stong...starts right up when its cold and it will run fine until you shut it off. Plugs looked okay, fresh oil, new distibutor module.

One thing right before all this started happening i was beating on the car a little...shifted to 2nd and noticed the rpms were at 7000rpm. This all started right after this little incident.

I have been trying to fix this for months now and I have no idea what to do...I brought it to a mustang performance shop and they couldnt figure it out.

Mods: Headers, exhaust, intake, cobra intake manifold, 373's, msd ignition.

I need to figure this out...any advice is greatly appreciated!

slow crank during a hot startup points directly to starter. doubt your other signs and serious over-rev are related.

mine does the same right now and its really pissing me off. slow cranks after at operating temp.

i have a brand new starter and heat blanket over the starter. wtf? a friend of mine said that he thinks my battery is draining really fast and may need to be replaced, not enough crank amps left. also he thinks that because i run a 1 gauge battery to gorund, 1 guage power wire and 4 gauge engine to ground that im not having good enough ground to crank properly....truth to any of that?

^^^^^^^^^^^^I doubt that is the issue, however I would maintain the same gauge wiring and not change gauges from one to the next......put a high torque mini from a 92-95 in it

the the thing keeping me from just replacing the starter is the fact that most of the time it will crank fine once its hot...but it still will not start.

could it be a sensor somewhere that gets hot and incorrectly adjusts fuel, spark or timing??
