Question about leaking tranny and adding fluid.
Well I fixed my oil leak from the oil pan (guy who had it before me had a smaller plug in it). I noticed that my tranny is leaking small drips of fluid here and there. It doesnt really leak too much, it could possibly be fixed by tightening the bolts so that the gasket compresses more... anywho
If I want to put more tranny fluid in, do I have to remove the shifter and pour it in that hole? Also, how do I know when to stop adding fluid beings that there is no stick to check for it? Thanks!
(also, I can tell that I need some fluid and its seeming to get stickier when shifting and grinding a tad)

The transmission leak really depends on where it's leaking from.
As for top it up. There is a plug on the side of the transmission. Remove it. Fill it up to the point where it is dripping out. Up to the bottom of the fill hole.
Don't bother removing the shifter. It's a bunch of work not needed for a top up.

yes theres two plugs on the transmission one for fill one on the bottom for drain. If its leaking just drain the whole thing and fill it back up until it start leaking out the fill hole. Wheres it leaking also?

but if your replacing your shifter you can pour it through there as well. sometimes its hard as hell to squirt the trans fluid in there from underneath unless you have a lift. just pointing it out for anyone that question the ability to pour trans fluid through the shifter.

If you do not have a lift, a pump or don't feel like taking the shifter off.
Get a length of hose from Home Depot. Clamp it onto your funnel and fill it from under the hood.
The ONLY time I do the fill through shifter hole is after a transmission install. Since the shifter is already out. Still advise opening the fill plug so there is ZERO chance of overfilling.

ther is no place to fill it under the hood, i think he was refering to running the pump tube down threw the motor bay to the fill plug. doing this lets gravity feed the fluid faster and its also easierthan trying to fill from under car
