So when Im rolling (seems the faster, the more), it sounds like theres a plastic bag stuck under my car, and Im pretty sure its the U joint because of the occasional 'clunk' when I put it in gear. It also whines so'em fierce when Im barely touching the throttle cruising (like 65 on the fwy), but Im pretty sure thats the tranny being toast.
I just want to make sure, since Im putting the car under the knife this weekend, I want to get it fixed while Im at it.

Could it be the wheel bearings making noise too?

hmmm plastic bag? could it be a window down a crack or something causing wind in the car?
if you've got the d/s out might as well replace the ujoins anyways, they're cheap and relatively easy to do.

no.. for one, I always have the windows all the way down
I mean it sounds like the crinkling of a plastic bag, like a chattering. Im pretty sure its the U joint, Im replacing that, but I wanted to know if it could be anyhting else and I could knock it out whilst Im at it

jack up the car and put the trans in gear and the ebrake on. try turning the driveshaft and if it moves allot and you see allot of play in the u joints then they are bad. but it wouldnt make a plastic bag noise. it make that clunk when u put it in gear. my friends dodge 3500 did that untill i put in a new driveshaft. that sounds like a air leak.

Does anything change the noise besides speed? Like hitting the brakes, or pulling up lightly on the ebrake?
