Need some advice

I put a powedyne supercharger on my street Mustang, looking for someone that has expereince with these, the motor made about 350hp w/o the supercharger, rebuilt 306, Crane cam, Ported heads, Roller Rocekrs, this is a 9-10 psi Powerdyne unit. I have 26 lb injectors with 255LPH fuel pump, adjustable regulator, 70mm throttle body, 90mm MAF. I have the FMU installed, but have read some negative feedback about the FMU systems. I only have the stock computer, no chips or upgrades, and have adjusted fuel pressure symilar to changing jets to get the car to run the best. Just changed from a 70mm to 90mm MAF to see what the difference is, but haven't been to the track after the change.

With the 70mm MAF, the car ran 12.60's @ 108mph, any suggestions on the setup, or tune-up? I will find out this weekend what difference the 90mm MAF makes?

I have a ton of experience with the Powerdyne's over the years....Not sure of your "26#" injectors (24 maybe?)...I would think that you need at least 30 or perhaps 36# injectors. What type of ported heads? You're going to need some kind of air/fuel chip, tune or a MSD 6BTM...You would be OK if yoiu were running 6# kit...Set your timing to 12-14 deg. with Superunleaded...I can't help with fuel pressure until I know your injector size...let me know & I can help you...I did run the Stock FMU with a bleeder valve!

I ran a 11.21@122.35 with my 1991 Mustang GT, 3.55's, Edelbrock heads, Cobra Intake, STOCK Cam, 9# Powerdyne, Stage II Fuel system, 30# injectors with a Pro-M 75 mmMAF, 70mm TB, MSD 6BTM...

buy a chip and get it tuned ; ) other than that I would make sure the MAF you are using is compatible with your injectors because that really screws things up

The injectors are 26 lb, they are made by ACCELL, the car ran well w/o the supercharger, 13.40's @ 101mph. I expected more MPH from the supercharger, but I only had a stock 70mm MAF on it, and I don't think the stock MAF flows that well. I have a 90mm Grannatelli on it now.

Just stock heads, ported, they came on the car when I bought it.

Who does good a good computer chip? I heard different stories, guy's said if you work the fuel pressure, and timing, you don't need a chip?

Does Powerdyne make a 8 rib pulley setup for the BD-11?

Timspony, 11.21@122.35 those are some impressive times!

well i hang around at a speed shop when im boreed and it makes a huge difference when a car with modifications like yours gets tuned. get a blank SCT 4 bank chip and get it dyno tuned by someone certified by SCT, it will really put you in your seat then, especially with a supercharger

Your 26# injectors not enough...I would goto 30#'s at least! ...With a P'dyne, you do not need an 8 rib since they tend too have little OR no belt slipage issues!

You need at least a MSD 6BTM to pull out timing under WOT...you can not get the correct air/fuel ratios with a Stock computer...Otherwise you need a chip or custom tune! ...Also, with the BTM, you can really bump up the timing because it's desiged to pull out timing under WOT...So if the BTM is set at 1 deg., it will pull 1 deg. of timing out per pound of Boost! ...I use to run my timing at 18 deg.! Never a problem...I did run race fuel at the track as well!

With your current condition...I would set the static fuel pressure at 40-42pi with the vacuum off....When & if you get the 30's, you can lower to around 37psi

Thanks for all the info guy's!

Also, with the stock heads, get some autolite 23 spark plugs (2 steps colder) and gap to 0.032.....

30's? Try more like at least 36's, thats what i got on mine and its hci and boosted at 10 psi, If i had to do it over again id just get 60lbs because it gets dyno tuned and you can always tune an injector down always go bigger to be on the safe side. Plus down the line you wont hae to end up buying bigger injectors or ever worry about maxxing them out

Timspony 10-23-2008 07:59 PM

can go with 30 or 36's....since he has stock ported heads....
