Default Dyno and Tuning ???'s

Hello there once again. I called up our local Dyno shop and they said they don't have the correct software to properly tune a 1990, how and why is this the case? Also, he said if I purchased the tuning software he can install it and dyno my car, and then I will still keep the tuning software afterwards.

What tuning software would be the best for my 1990 5.0?

most likely the only stuff they do is obd II...find a dyno shop that has experience on your vintage mustang

haha alright! thanks! What would be a time frame as far as how it takes to actually tune the car and adjust the minor tweaks and such. Also, is the dyno just the electrical portion of tuning it, or do they adjust the timing fuel pressure things like that to make sure its tip top performing shape? or does that depend on the actual dyno shop that's doing the work?

That depends on what you want. Usually it's timing and fuel, but if you want a chip burned they'll go in and tweak other things. You just have heads and cam right? You may just need a basic dyno to be sure the a/f is on the money. Basically all depends on how much you wanna spend to have what done. As for time, that depends on the shop doing it and how fast they work. If it's just a basic dyno checking fuel and timing, it shouldn't take long at all. Most of the time spent is strapping the car down and hooking up the equipment.

you'll get what your willing to spend......so pay to have it done right by someone who has experience doing what you need done, the drive is worth it in the end because what's worse , option one...paying more to have it done right initially or option 2... paying twice and have the qualified person undo what the non-experienced guy screwed up..trust me option 1 is the way to go

yep basically all heads and cam! Everything else is just bolt on's and a little bit of upgraded fuel and air management stuff.

Thanks for the input guys I appreciate it!

Well, i have a chip, but it's not made by them, it was custom burned through a company can't remember off the top of my head, but it was made to the exact parts i have, pretty detailed from what i recall. BUT, I'm not sure if they can re program that chip if i bring it to a shop???
