guess my friend can save 200 bucks and put it into some gears or something

detroit style, thanks for the suggestion he hadnt tried setting it in the wheel and standing it up and looking at it. thats soemthing we can do at the j/y. we do spin the axel before we pull them at the j/y and it looks ok...just when its on the mustang, level ground and with a nice wheel it wobbles...annoying. lol

welp, another trip to the j/y tomorrow, sunny and hopefully some good luck in the future for my buddy.

junk yard axles...Dude save the trouble and get some axles you know are good. I don't mind getting bits and peices from the j/y, but why go into all that trouble (four sets) when you can get a proven and brand new not bent pair and just do it once?

if it was me i'd buy them new, almost all my stuff is new. i think the only j/y part i really have is my 3g alt.! lol you must be skipping for the "my friend" part. he's saving 200 bucks, he's cheap, im just trying to help. he wants a budget build. he knows its a hassel. he's the same guy with the 460 mustang(sold) modded falcon, modded fairlane, and has had many other cars. so hes not dumb, just stubborn in his ways. haha

Default Chuckles is Right!

New axles are cheap enough....4 junker sets probably cost what a new set costs...and not to mention the time. Don't forget to check/replace your seals after that many r/r's!

Other than the wheels/tires you can do a whole swap for $400 with all new stuff. But I would do the same thing. Its not that I am a cheap skate, its just I have very little money to work with so I make the most of what I can. And thanks to gas only being 2.13 a gallon right now that is not a major expense anymore lol.

lol, you're refunded or are able to exchange for defective products. so no extra cost. again, not asking for new. its a friend and hes set on getting 5 lug axels out of a j/y for $22 each. just wanted to know another way to verify if an axle is straight or not other than trying to eyeball it.
