Default Quick simple question: Crank Sensor

I have a 94 and I'm converting to a pre-sn95 timing cover. First part of my question is does my car now have a crank sensor, and do fox body 5.0's have a crank sensor. If yes to both, are they compatible as in, can i use my sending unit on a fox's timing cover. Secondly, if i dont have a crank sensor, what is that little sensor that is on the timing cover. It only has one wire going to it, i figured that it might be the crank sensor.

our 5.0's have distributors, so they don't have crank sensors. As far as the thing with one wire you're referring to, are you sure its in the timing cover and not right next to the timing cover? That sounds like the oil sending unit.

you don't have a crank sensor per say in an sn-95 or a fox .......you have what is known as a stator/pick up coil which ID'S tdc and sends a PIP signal to the ecm through the tfi which the ecm interprets as the engine is cranking so the ecm the grounds the FP relay for fuel pump operation and the coil is triggered to fire at proper time , the 1 wire sensor you refer to is most likely the oil pressure sending unit by the oil filter and it is in the block not timing cover, there are no sensors in a sn-95 timing cover and if you plan to convert to a fox timing cover, you'll need a fox water pump and if you plan to use a fox distributor, you'll need the fox wiring harness, intake and sensors and ecm
