Speed Sensor Gear Doom-Sauce
Well, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I need to know what type of speed sensor gear my T5 takes, but alas, the original transmission on the car (according to the door sticker) was an automatic. The gentleman who owned the car before me did a swap, but never bothered to put in the right gear.
So I'm left with a problem. How do I find out what the proper gear is for my T5? Is there an easy way to find out besides ordering, popping in, and testing every gear I can get my hands on?

Door tag says 'M' and accroding to the nifty decoder sheet (http://www.mustanggt.org/forms/90decode.htm#door) it means 2.73 rear end gears.
So that's what I should go by?

Maybe the problem is that the old gear's pilot shaft is too long. I've noticed that the T-5 gears(stock t-5 rear end ratios) have a shorter shaft. Maybe the long AOD gear isn't working because of that.
I think I'll also shorten the current gear's pilot shaft and see if it takes. *shrug*

Once you get the gear installed a good easy way to verify that the speed is correct is with a gps that has current speed on display. I used a garmin gps to verify speed corrections after gear changes, speedo calibrations, etc. Also good for finding the parts store:-)
