Adjust my trans linkage

Adjust my trans linkage
i wanted to know if i could adjust my trans linkage at the throttle body housing. i have an 89 lx auto trans. i looked at it and it looks like some type of black square clamp with about 40 hills and valley's on it with a lead cap on the wire cable. a few weeks ago i was drunk changing spark plugs and some how broke the little rubber gromit that the adjustment assembly "nipple" slid into and fixed it up with a few washers and a little C clamp. the reason i feel i need to adjust it is that when it was broke (didn't know it at the time) it had beautiful pickup speed and when i stomped on the peddle it just reved higher and wouldn't kick down(the trans) and go, but seeing how the over all responce was better when it was broken leads me to belive that i may need to adjust it. how can i accomplish this? any insight

RE: Adjust my trans linkage
that box youre talking about has a yello or white pin in it. get a flat blade screw driver and push itup ward. slide the black teeth cable a few notches. the close to the back the box is the firmer and later the shifts the more forward the less firm and early shifts. now once you get it in place. slide teh pin back in. now do this with small adjustments and not all at once
