i think it may only be forged pistons actually. but the internals of the 5.0 engines seem to out live the block in most cases which has a tendency to split down the middle at 450-500rwhp area

That being said, any suggestions on a block upgrade?

if you plan on making that much power your best route is either a dart or boss block (ford racing)

Okay. I don't know if I'll do that, like I said, first thing is to rebuild the engine for just basic operation. New rings, gaskets, freeze blugs, maybe polish the cylinder walls a bit... check for issues and replace parts if neccessary. I might do a cam and intake while I'm in there, but that depends on whether I can find one that's a good fit for me (mileage, and increased power, but with low to mid end torque since it's a city car that will surely get gears). We'll see, either way, I'm looking forward to an affordable project.

yeah, driver air bag = no tilt stearing...which sucked ***** at first but I got used to it really quick and now I love it.

Yeah, its just the pistons...93 has the funky hydro-what-cha-ma-call-it pistons, which I've been told are actually really good, just in a different way from forged pistons.
Fox internals are tough buggers. like Milton said, they out last the block in most cases.

Uh, if your in the market for a notch LX its going to be more than $2000 (if its in any kind of shape, especially clean). But its still gonna be cheaper than a SN95.

The foxes are veryeasily upgradeable, there are a ton of aftermarket parts for them, and the arent really expensive to upgrde compared to the newer stangs,
As for the block i like Dart.

I'd still settle for a hatch. I want a notch, but hey. Most foxes here are 2000$ or less.

If I were you I would spend alittle extra and get the notch (if you get the choice) Because thats what you want, (not to mention its lighter)

I probably will. I like the appearance a lot more. But still, all I need is something cheap. I could go either way... an evil looking hatch or a quiet notch. One way or the other... if I get a hatch it's getting gt ground effects.

1990 was the first year for air bags.

89 is the most sought after...first year for MASS air, last year for tilt, no air bags. 88 California cars have MASS air though too...

But any 86-88 is easily converted to mass air...
