Default help

ok i have had this mustang for like 10 year at least and the battery placement has never changed it is a 93 mustang lx convertable .the problem is i had to replace the batter and the batteries always have the positive in the same place till now i bought one from advance auto and put it in put the cables on and the polarity was incorrect i placed the neg. on the positive and vice versa , somehow the post on the battery are now on the opposite sides ..what could i have done damage to now it won't start the cylenoid i replaced the wire with the fuseable link but nothing ..how can i by-pass the line directly to the starter? to turn the car over?

use a volt meter and start checking continuity from the wires coming off the starter solenoid and then past the fuseable links to see if they are fried
