couple cleaning question

couple cleaning question
okay, i brought up the problems ive been having to my friend and he mentioned a couple of things that may be wrong
he said to clean the MAF (which MJR told me, ill get some of the stuff)
but he said to clean the salt n pepper shakers (solenoids or whatnot at the back of the intake) how might i go about doing this?
also he said to check the TPS voltage, which may well be the case, how might i go about doing that?
