IMO the three or four availible out there are subpar performers and leave one desiring more, putting together your own H/C/I will cost almost the same and yield better results

If your only looking at Ford H/C/I I would 1st try some local junkyards, classifieds for a explorer intake manifold which is very simialer to a cobra. and 97up 5.0 explorers came with gt-40p heads stock.

then as for the cam you can pick up a E303 cam from latemodel, jegs, summit ect.

well those headers are specificly made for those heads but if I went seperate and got them used would I be better off with an F303 and would this work with the gt40p/s heads and 1.7 rockers without clearence issues?

I went from an e -cam to f -cam in my 92 and it didn't change much...not worth the change and as far as PTV issues..lift has nothing to do with ptv, for clearance you should always check for ptv upon assembley, I have the f-cam in my 92 with no ptv issue

Exactly.

I paid $400 for an entire Explorer engine. I then stripped it down and took the intake (which slightly outperforms the Cobra intake through a large RPM range) and I took the GT40 heads (not the P heads.) Then for a camshaft I paid $200 and bought a Steeda #19. So basically, for $600, I had a decent budget H/C/I setup.

Then I sold the heads and intake...but that's a different story, lol.
