375 to 450 rwhp will be tough on a 3k budget....you want a well built 347 short block.....www.fordstrokers.com.... add a set of decent heads like afr 185's or trick flow 190 as cast heads and a decent intake and tune and all supporting mods and 380 rwhp will be a reality:) oh and 375 to 450 won't happen on a h/c/i 302 without a power adder

WHATS THE MOST POWER A 302 h/c/i MADE TO YOUR KNOLEDGE
^^^^^^^that question can have a range of answers, now take this statement for what it is, cause there will always be exceptions to the rule.......most average budget h/c/i 302's using the factory ford rotating assembley end up producing anywhere from 280 rwhp to 310 rwhp and the upper limit being with a dyno tune/ chip....this is the average......like I said were talking just bolt it on and go deal.....there are tons of tricks that can be done to up the level of hp but mods cost money:D.....I've never dynoed my builds as I have gauged them in terms of et's and my last h/c/i 302 in my 85 was a dome piston short block and the h/c/i on it was 11 to 1 compression and it ran 12.20's @112 so rwhp if I had to guess was most likely around 320 to 330:)
i have seen 306's in the 9's with around 600 hp , but those were strait race cars
and for that power and budget the only way would be a rebuilt shortblock, decent alum. heads, trickflow intake, and a decent cam and a good 100-150 shot and can all be had for 3 thousand on good budget shopping. |
So , ? lol . What should i do , ? My blocks bareings or bad? Does that mean that i can used my block it has 160,000 miles should i just remove the block hot tank it clean it and throw a 302 assmbley back in new assembley? or just replaced the bareing ?
And bore it 0.30 over ? make it a 306 - AFR 185 With comp cam ? Can i get close to 400 then? |
you're not going to get there without spraying 100-150 shot. plus the 306, hci
rebuild the block and through a supercharger on it, you'll be close to 350-375
So in order to get close to 400HP, Must do a 347 OR 331 + H/C/I .?
with a 160k on the bottom end I'd pull it and rebuild it and bore it .030.....but by the time you do all that you could probably buy a 306 ready to go for 1200 to 1400......a well built 306 with tfs fast as cast 170 cc or 190cc and custom cam will yield you a power producing combo, yeah it'll cost a tad more but what's worse..spending twice as much later on to redo a disappointing combo???.....afr 165's or 185's will work...when I used 185's on my 306 I had dome pistons and it worked well and I threw a 100 shot on top of that and ran 11.34 @ 120..........so if you plan to throw juice to your 306 combo then 400 will be possible with a 100 shot:)
