Question Paint Question

I just painted and wet sanded my car. I went to buff and polish it out last night and it came out with a shine but seemed like maybe I could have buffed the compound on better. I did 1.Step: 3m compound 2.Step: 3m swirl remover 3.Step: 3m glaze. Now can I go ahead and repeat steps 1-3 on top of steps 1-3 or do I have to sand it back down and then do steps 1-3?

I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I do paint my own rides at home. I would wash it down with a wax remover, and start the buffing process again. Any haze after buffing means you didn't get 100% of the sanding marks out. What paint did you use?, single stage, base coat/clear coat?.

wash the car off real well get all the old compound and polish off. you can now start with stage 1 make sure the car is compleatly buffed out befor you put the swrill mark remover on or it will mask the dull spots for a few days and then they will show up agean. a small trick to the buffing process is after you use the compound take a spray bottle with just water and mist it on the car and buff it with the water once you do this it will ensure the car is buffed and you can go to the next stage and repeat the process. sorry for the spelling.

You don't have to wet sand it again. Just go back over it with the first stage swirl remover then glaze...

Again though, is this BC/CC? or just Single Stage?

no wetsanding again, just start with the compound again, and completly buff out the sandscratchest this time , then swirl remover, glaze. What grit paper did you use to wetsand?

Ya,what grit did you use. I painted a door and hood and tried wetsanding with 1400-2000 grit.Any lower and its a real polishing workout. Also guy at autobody supplier got me to skip all level of compounds and just use 3m 06064 perfect it 3000,only using 2 grades of pads.Every job is different but this worked good.

I'll have to try those things. The paint is a single stage acrylic urethane and I used 800 to scuff then followed with 1000,1500 and finished with 2000.
