Default Time to blow some money...

Looking to spend some money on the car this winter. Looking for H/C/I but I am looking to go the GT40 route. I know the P's supposedly make more power over the regular GT40 heads so I think I am going to go that route. I would like to have a bit of a lope to it so which cam should I go with? Should I upgrade from the stock rockers to maybe the 1.7s?

Its a 1993 Gt

choosing a cam based on sound really is an no-no......with all the technical advances in performance, a custom cam would really benifit your build and help it perform as desired.........as for intake a gt-40, explorer or cobra will all complement the package quite well......such cam masters as www.camshaftinnovations.com and www.flowtechinduction.com can point you in the right direction for a cam that performs well with your combo

Ohhh come on MJ, but isn't the sound what its all about?? Just kidding. Alright, so lets say I go GT40 intake and the P heads. What is a good cam for that package? Should I upgrade rockers also?

personally I'd use 1.6 rockers......and as far as a cam goes if you wish to use a OTS cam a tfs stage 1 cam will work okay with that set up and give you a lope

So is the TFS cam the BEST choice for the GT40 setup? If I do go with the TFS and the Gt40 H/I will the stock springs handle the TFS cam? I have read a few different post going both directions some say they will some say no.

The tfs1's max lift is .510. I chose the safe route and bought trick flows upgraded spring package. It supports a max lift of .542. The stock cams max lift is .444. I dont know what the stock springs support, but dont imagine it being +.510.

You CAN use the stock springs, but they dont make springs with different ratings for the hell of it.

If you want my honest opinion... I just installed gt40ps and the tfs1 cam and springs, along with the cobra intake, headers, and timing chain/gears. Well, there is definitely a noticeable power increase, but for the $800 I spent on all the parts and time and energy that went into the build, I dont feel it was worth it. I would never do that again unless I stood to gain 100whp from a good set of aluminum heads.

But thats just my opinion, and you'll probably figure it out the hard way, like I did.

the max lift the springs say they are good for is for coil bind, that has nothing to do with spring pressure, like seat pressure & opened pressure.
the xe270hr-14 cam has .512 lift, 218/224 duration at .050.
i had eddy rpm heads, the stock eddy springs are 110-120lbs of seat pressure...thats not near enough... they say they are good to .575 lift.
the valves started to float around 5800.
