Hey if they want bad info, want to get burned, start advising them of other places to purchase from. No sweat here, but what many might not believe is I like to help. Who is the resident engine builder here? Not the resident "technician", is there anyone here? Is there a machinist here? Can anyone answer machine questions should a member have a question? Go thumb through my posts and that should answer your question quickly.

I see no problem with this really, 450 on a stock block shouldnt be a problem. The only thing you will really have to think about is what power adder u plan to use. Whether its supercharged/turbo'd/NOS. And yes with either 3 it is very easy to split a stock 302, but if tuned right and you dont get greedy(mild supercharged build 450ish horse, or 310ish HP N/A H/C/I with 100-150shot of NOS would easily get you there) really just depends on what you want to do. And really if your not wanting to go above 450 there should be no reason for an aftermarket block...

Forget the power adder, make it on all motor pump gas. Power is in the cylinder heads

i have noticed that any time some one asks a question. what they ask about is never good enough. u ask about a set of e7 heads redone and they say junk, but if u ask about gt40's they get something else and it keeps going. then u look and see that there car is stock. they kill me. i agree with woody. and my friends has 500 hp at the tires on a stock block. its been bored to 347 and supercharged with heads intake and more. and another friend had a mustang he got for like 500 bucks and ran a 300 shot of nos. it tore out the auto tranny with in 3 runs but it ran 6.7 seconds at a little over a 100mph

some blocks last longer than other at 500+, some people get lucky, some dont.
damn good machine work plays a huge role in how long it lasts.

when I looked for a 347 build I looked for someone who specialized in only that = strokers.......I passed my local machine shop up when I asked him if he could do it right.....he said : "sure I think we can do it for you" key word being: "think" so I walked the other way and found a competent builder, whether or not it'll stay together will be in the machine work and later the tune

from everything that ive read and heard, you do not need a 2000 dollar aftermarket block to handle 450 hp lol...

listen to woodsy guys, i bet he knows more than a lot of you guys if not all

i had 461rwhp with my stock block (and stock cam) for little over a year before i cracked about half my piston rings all at once (lean condition). the motor had 112k miles at the time. and that was through an aod so if you figure 20% loss through the tranny thats 550hp on the stock block, daily driven and abused red light to red light.

if you have $5k to spend on the motor, pull the motor out, have it machined so its fresh, put new rings and bearings in it. balance the rotating assembly because you know ford half assed it the first time around and put the bottom end back together with a mild cam. get some gt40 heads and do some mild port work as well as mild port work on the intake. 65mm tb, larger mf, and new exhaust (headers to tips). then get yourself a 100 shot of nitrous and youll make 400rwhp and still have at least $2000 in your pocket to get gears a limited slip and suspension mods. itll be reliable, itll handle well, and itll kill 95% of the cars on the road

cant be easier then that

.....plan on a new fuel pump for that level of hp
