Default 8.8 or 9 inch rear

I'm trying to put a 1989 gt together for some strip action. It has a 500hp 408w with 150hp nos. Can I get an 8.8 rear to hold up to that power or should I look into a 9in?

Thanks
pt

i would think a stout 8.8 might hold the 500 hp, but throwing the NOs on i'm gonna say 9in. others will chime in soon

An 8.8 will easily hold 500hp, needs axles, c-clips elims or 9 inch ends welded on. Simple stuff

I would think for this application, the only reason you would want a 9 would be so that you could have a more easily changed ratio.
