Default Bad floor pans

When I was trying to find my rattle earlier I noticed a lot of the undercoating that was on the car is now gone and there are holes and cracks everywhere. I poked one hole which I believe to be under the cross section that the front seat bolts go to. I poked with my finger and the floor started to fall right apart. The pass side does not seem so bad there is a hole up in the front corner.

I looked even closer and notice a couple patches none of which are welded looks like jb weld or something because I can make and impression with my finger nail. I am really pissed I am only 17 with no garage or welder I have to do everything in my driveway. However my neighbor does weld but I think this would be a really big favor to ask of him though. Does anyone have any picture of when they did there floor pans so I can get an idea of what I am up against. Or a run though of the procedure. Thanks again.

this is my friends car, he had a shop in NH do it for him cheap.

it cost him about $900 and he got:
- new floors
- patched transmission tunnel
- patched firewall
- patched strut towers

I need to catch up to my rotting floors. I used pieces of my of muffler from my 04 truck that I had awhile back. I just stripped the out shell off and cut the pieces to fit as patches for now.

Wow he had some major rust. I may have to check around for shops and see If I can get a good price. The frame and shock towers look go so I think I lucked out there but the drivers floor is really bad I wouldn't want to even patch it because theres no metal there really. Thanks for the pics there quite helpful

lol thats where my biggest hole is. It's about 2" x 5" and soft all around. no choice but to daily drive it. I will most likely get the pass side patched because it is mostly solid cept for a hole by the kick panel and a hole at the very back of the rear seat pan.

I have a hole like that right above where a replacment floorpan would be so that wouldn't cover it. I plan on fixing mine right whenever I get back from my next tour to Iraq that is about to start. My nighmare is going to be the rust that has started in the inside corner of my cowl area. That will be a PITA. Good luck fixing your car's disease.

When I bought my 88 GT the previous owner told me that the floor pans we're bad and he cut out the rusted back halfs of the floor pans and put in this metal to prevent more rusting

Now my solution to fix it is these bought from "Texas mustang parts" for $136 apiece.

A local body shop quoted me $250 a side to put these in since I have done most of the labor myself removing the interior parts, exhaust, fuel lines, brake lines, and since I am redoining the drivetrian the engine and tranny we're removed as well.

now I know you said your's is a daily and removing alot of that stuff really isn't an option so if you can stop the rust before it spreads and patch it up would prolly work best for you. IMO

My car had a lot of rust. I have used Rust Bullet on areas like the subframes. I just knocked off the scale and tried to remove as much rust as possible. Next, I applied 2 coats. Hopefully, this should keep me out of trouble.
