Default Oil Pan replacement

Im being offered 100$ to change my friends oil pan out for a new one and need to know

Do i need to hoist the engine up at all to get the pan out and back in or can i get away with out using it?

dude there were like 3 threads about this in the past week if u search you'ill find them im sure but i remeber people saying that you can do it by lifting the engine alittle bit but there is no way you can do it without lifting the engine ..... ooh and the average cost to do that in a shop is 450$ so your frend is getting to good of a deal make it 200$

I would do it for $100. It is a pretty simple job really and I work cheap though. To get the whole pan off there is no way you will pull the pan without lifting the engine up. OR do what mjr suggested in one thread awhile back and drop the k-member and whole front suspension.

I was afraid of that... thing is i have no truck or anything and i have to travel with my tools to get there including the cherry picker

i ended up having to take my motor out. either take the motor or drop the k member don't bother trying to do anything inbetween your wasting time. motor comes out fast as hell too id just go that route if i had to do it again

Yea the kid isn't as helpless with it as i had thought

he has the engine hoist already... with the motor chained up ect. he wants me to do 4 things...

1- install new oil pan (used one he bought off of me)
2- replace the rear main seal
3- replace the spacer plate between transmission and block
4- replace starter

he is asking his friend who has a shop... but he needs it done asap, so if his friend can't get him in im all overit... its a carbed car, so its just that much less **** unbolt and bolt back on lol...
