If I were the OP I wouldn't make my goal 300 hp but more so ....What E.t do you want the car to run???? Cause DYNO numbers don't win races

definitely just for the street/daily driver, no track/no racing. sounds like a gt40 set up or a supercharger is more for what i'm looking for from the way you guys are explaining. this type of add on would be my max.

my 89gt had plenty of power with it's bigger meter, roller rockers, cam, headers, exhaust. that was and would be plenty for me. i could always stick with this type of set-up minus the rockers and cam. reliability is a priority. i dont want to open up an engine that's running good. i found a notch with 40k original miles, something like that one i'd just do external bolt ons i think.

i drive an hour to work, so i'm looking for something that merges into traffic good. i'm usually late so something that purrs at 75/80mph. and something that wont "drink" gas like water. i had 355's on the '89gt's rear and liked it, something like this would be good since i drive on the highway for about 50 minutes each way...correct?

i 'm just looking to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible WITHOUT racing.

thanks for any and all feedback,

I made 219rwhp and 267rwtq through an AODE(95) with all boltons and a GT-40 intake manifold(stock junk heads and cam) This equates to around 260flyhp. It felt pretty good, especially w/the 4:10's. A manual should make around 230rwhp. All I am saying is light boltons do add power. However, heads/Intake and cam is where the true power lies. And like I said, just Vortech your new car and be done with it. For about two grand(give or take) you can have a pretty nice setup.

Thats what my plan was, just to throw on a decent HCI to hit 300ish, or slap a s/c on with gt40 heads. Im going with TF heads with my GT40 intake and Steeda 19 cam, hopeing for 300

i'm gonna port the stock heads myself first since i'm short on funds, and i have a rebuilt 306 along with a tfs stage 1 cam, i'll get around to putting my eddy rpm2 on there later after i get a hood and all, then later i'll throw on a turbo so when i feel like whoopin a$$ i can turn up the boost

Throwing out a horsepower goal without indicating what you will be doing with the car does not give people what they need to know to answer your question. What will you be doing with the car and what do you expect from it?

If all you want to do is see 300 horsepower on a dynomometer, you can get there pretty cheap and it will do it a few times before it blows. If OTOH you want a street driver that's fun to drive, you will need to build some torque in there somewhere.

What is your goal with the car?

no offense revolution but i think this thread is moving slightly out of hand. there are some many builds people are throwing out there for you. some expensive, some cheap. i know what kind of car you're looking for. but a budget in mind would narrow down and give you something more concrete. that way we can make links and you can see what you'd be getting yourself into. actually get a build together for you so you get exactly what you want, id hate for you to start buying parts and get pissed when its not what you expect.

also with your comment about not wanting to mod the motor thats already running fine. anytime you start modding anything....even as simple as a CAI other things will fail and you'll have to fix other things. thats why modding these cars is a never ending process and an addiction. you'll get the bug soon enough
