Default I don't know what to do about a shortblock :(

Okay i got all my parts listed and coming in slowly, and i want to shift attention to the shortblock i will be using... its a basic budget HCI with aluminum heads and all that jazz...

I need help on selecting a short block, my questions are as follows

Will a Stock Shortblock with lets say upwards of 80k miles on it tackle a HCI with a small shot of nitrous? or would a rebuilt be worth the money... and also as part of the rebuild is it madatory that a machine shop polish the crank and rod bearing surfaces... or could i simply take it all apart... replace bearings, and slap it back together?

I have also been looking at DSS shortblocks which are a bit pricey for me

And i have seen these on latemodlerestoration.com http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...0%201&comp=LRS

main concern with the latemodel block is the hyper pistons being able to handle a little juice.

Help me out here

I wouldn't hesitate to do a HCI and spray on a 80k mile motor.. keep what you got

In most cases, at 80K the stock bottom end will be fine with what you want to throw at it. And I would stay away from DSS.

By the way, you are registered on Woody's site why wouldn't you go to him a short block if you decided to that route?

80 k will be fine on a stock short block or look for an 87-92 mustang one with forged pistons , plenty around

anything motor wise that has the word economical in the name makes me sceptical. ofcourse late model is a good company so who knows. but like everyones said 80k is nothing, do it up.
