Smile is new mass air meter needed

Hey new to forum, i have an 87 gt, stock 302 with flowmaster catbacks i put on about half a year ago. I'm about to put on a BBK CAI. (quick bolt on for broke college student) question is do i need a new mass air meter along with that. i've noticed that there is a place between the new piping for the meter to go and dont know if i need a new one or the old one can transfer over to there. any info concerning the mass air meter, or even throttle bodies with the BBK CAI would be helpful. thanks. sorry for long post

Kinda sounds like it was converted...

Can you post the part number on the MAF sensor?
How about the 'catch code' on the ecu sticker? A9L, A9P, ???

Where in Washington are you?

cant post that yet cause i'm at college and have to wait till christmas break to install it, came right after thanksgiving break after i left. but im in auburn. so then do you think i will have to change anything around from bein all stock with my wiring to when the CAI is put in. i was just curious of all of this cause when i was shopping for it i noticed a pic of the tubing that looked like it had a slot for or actual sensor/meter there. i havent made any conversions yet.

hey quick side question, with your t-top have you noticed any licks around your door windows up top, or do your windows seal up pretty nicely. i replaced my weatherstripping just to be cautious and my driver door window isn't sealing very well, its like the pressure inside the door on the window isn't strong enough?

1st off 1988TTOP I hate you and your sig b/c it makes me miss my t-top really really bad!!!! HAHA

2nd If the car isn't converted yet and your not going to convert it yet you don't need a MAF. BBK makes a piece to go where the MAF goes for $50 I know I got it. Or you can cut you a piece of your stock intake tube and put it in that place or something of that nature if you don't want to spend that kind of money for a little 3-4in chrome piece.

3rd as far as I'm concerned never ask a mustang guy w/ t-tops if his t-tops leak cause the answer is most likely yes even if they did replace the seals. I wish I did though b/c mine leaked REALLY bad. But I don't know how to help you with the sealing problem sorry.

No MAF is needed until the car is converted from Speed density to Mass-air! ...only the '88 Ca. cars and ALL '89-'93 5L Mustangs came from the factory with mass-air
