I am trying to adjust my idle mixture on my carb. If I do it the way Holley suggest the car idles way too rich.

I adjusted it for max vacuum as per there directions but this seems to rich. Is there a better way to adjust it? Right now I have both screws about 1 1/2 turns out. Thats where it seems to run the best and not rich, however at 1 1/2 turns it isn't making max vacuum.

I usually adjust it until I reach max vaccum then from there 1/4 turn more out and if it is still to rich look at changing the primary jets to smaller ones

Being that Im at about 3700 Ft above sea level I went from #65 primary jets down to #63.

I just changed the jets last night so I'll try adjusting it for max vacuum again and see what happens.

Whats the idle vac. and what power valve are you using?

idle vac is 14-15 Power valve is 65. Holley says a 65 is good for 14-18 inches of vacuum.
