Default alternator question from new member

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 93 gt, and have a very basic supercharged set-up

306 w/ e-brock heads
e-brock intake
v1 a-trim
24lb injectors w/ fmu

Driving the car yesterday the alternator took a dump it seems, I did get on the car 2-3 times pretty hard and the last time I had to let off suddenly for traction reasons and the car turns up very fast, and from then on the alternator won't charge past the first line on the on the stock guage and the battery light is on also

so my question is, is it worth going up to a aftermarket alternator with more than 75-80amps?

I have had my car this way for over a year and it's been fine until this past
saturday

the car doesn't have a lot of aftermarket elec. draw it's basically a stripped down drag car

NO msd box
no radio
no heat or a/c
no power steering (just saying)
