Default 351W heads on a 302

There are some water ports that need to be tapped, plugged and milled.
The cylinders may need to be notched for the valve clearance.
Or bored oversize and notched. I don't remember.
Also the intake ports need to match.
Someone else should know.

the 69-70 351 heads are a bolt on except for the bolt inserts. have you already bought these? if not look for some gt40 heads they have hardened valve seat(the 69-70 351w heads do not) and they dont require bolt inserts either.

they are the SAME heads..... all you need is the reducers like you said. they dont need to be milled or worked on. 351w heads need nothing done. if you were doing cleveland heads then yes you would need to work on the water jackets. unlike what was said above.

69 and 70 351 w heads are the only good 351 heads, and still at that the gt40's are a touch better anyways..

Don't waste your money on a set of 69-70 351 heads unless you are restoring a 69 or 70 351. By the time you replace the guides, Seats, Valves, seals, springs and have them machined you will have as much in them as a set of Patriot 185's. Remember the heads are 39-40 years old and they wern't all that great back in the day. Other than restoration they belong on the end of a rope on some guys Bass boat.

now are you going aftermarket or stockers? cause stock isn't worth it. i've HEARD that afr 185's can be too big and decrease velocity on a 302 and afr said that they should be saved for stroked 302's or a 351.
just get some aftermarket heads, most of them have the 351 size bolt holes so you'll most likely still need the reducers
