Default pilot bearing eaten?

hey guys, I'm in the middle of a clutch swap and stuck on the pilot bearing. the inside of it were the rolers are got eaten and all thats left is the outer solid part. this doesn't sound that bad I thought I would be able to get a pilot bearing puller in there to get at the tabs to get it out but it feels like theres no end to it? I can't find the back. I've tried the other way of putting grease in there and getting a punch to press it out hydraulicly but it didn't work either. I'm to the point of thinking of putting a bolt in there to at least get something that will hold it. does anyone have any other ideas? has this happened to anyone else?

thanks in advance

If the puller wont get it I've used the grease method with good luck but I filled it up tight the take the tightest socket that will fit in the hole with a six inch extention (I have one just for the hammer) fill the socket with grease and take a 3 pound hammer and smack the hell out of it. The ones that won't come out I cut with a air saw (like a jig saw) and cut the bearing in two spots 180 degrees and then take a punch and tap it and it will fall out.

I'm still trying the grease method with no luck but I'm kind of afraid of cutting it out. does it matter what type of grease I use? I doubt it but just making sure. I'm just using a regular hammer because I don't have a sledge hammer. is it possible without one?

Possibly use a extractor set that you use for bolts? If you can get one to catch you should be able to work it out

I ended up getting it out with a die grinder(i don't know if thats correct spelling or not) it took hours. went threw 5 jigsaw blades, 3 screwdrivers and 1 chisel.. got the new pilot bearing in and rear main, just making sure is the rear main supposed to sit flush or put in until it stops? I went until it was flush but I just want to make sure its right before putting it all back together.
I don't know if this is supposed to happen or not but from trying to get the pilot bearing out with grease I plugged the holes for the flywheel with grease so I tried to get it out by blowing it out and oil cam out of the holes? is this regular or did I mess something up?

try using white bread instead of grease like 2 or 3 slices
