max lift on gt40p springs
so im picking up a pair of gt40p heads this week, so i figured i would get a cam and a intake to go with it. i dont wanna have to have my pistons notched or anything or have to go out and buy new springs so i am curious on how much life i can get out of gt40p springs without worrying about vtp clearance.

PtV clearance has nothing to do with valve springs specifications.... however, the coil bind spec for GT40p valve springs, the one you should add .060" to prevent any valve train/engine failures...... is .510" valve lift... add the recommended .060" clearance, and they simply fail for the requirements a camshaft, other than stock or over .450" lift, does require.

You will hear it when the spring breaks, and dont forget about valve float you don't always hear that. Stock springs are designed for stock cams. Anytime you change the cam you should change the springs to match the characteriscis of the cam.

in the past month there have been SOOOO many of THESE threads....... use the search button? everyone is gonna tell you the Same thing they tell all the other guys who ask
get some new springs cause stock springs are med for a stock cam. they're not expensive, so better to do it right the first time than mess up the motor
