okay. well i'm asking because I found a 87 efi engine. so i can drop it in my car to have efi for better mpg. it has aod and is complete engine, but needs rebuilt. So i wouldn't be able to put the efi on the 84 unless i changed the cam and firing order?

84-85 cfi mustangs all carried the h.o designation enven though they were flat tappet equipped and firing orders should be the same as an 86 and up you can use an 87 long block in your car no prob with cfi, although cfi is not the most desirable for performance, if using the long block and your cfi fuel injection no changes need be made, however if you wish to use the 87 fuel injection then you'll need wiring harness and a SD ecm but even that has it's limitations, if it were me I'd use a 89-91 harness and mass air set up
