T5 swap done, 1 question though...
Hi Guys,
I'm totally done with my AOD T5 swaps. I had 2 5.0s and I put the AOD in the old T5 and the T5 in the old AOD. Now, I have heard a lot of things about having to change out the computer when I replace the T5 with an AOD which is what I did on my 92 hatchback. Its now an automatic. It used to be the 5 speed. Some say I would need to, and some say I dont need to.
The new auto car (old T5) starts up fine, and runs well. I can't take it out on the road yet because I do not have it insured or registered. But driving it up and down my driveway, I can get it to change gears into 2nd only because my driveway isnt that long. So it looks like it will run ok. My question is, what is supposed to happen if I do not swap the computer? It seems like its running fine.
I know I dont have to swap the computer in the old auto (which is now a T5), but the old T5 (which is now an auto) is what I am wondering about.
THANKS!
