Default Possible Head Gasket Leak????

I was just curious as to how much the radiator overflow tank should show visible "burping" from the radiator cap. I've read in other threads that say excessive pressure can be a possible sign of a head gasket leak. I was just wondering as to how much pressure should be visible in the overflow tank. If anyone can help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.

most local parts stores will sell what is known as a "Block check kit" that tests for hydrocarbons in the cooling system which indicates a blown head gasket
