Illegal Parts And Passing Smog
What parts are illegal to have installed on 5.0's in California for non track and race purposes? Like if a cop pulled me over and said hey thats illegal! And what parts, (besides having no cats) will most likely make you not pass smog? thx

huge cam will cause you to fail. one good thing about the 5.0's is that you can buy just about everything that is smog legal and still make a good race car.

afr heads
edlebrock manifold
tb and egr
all legal and great power adders
if you had a turbo on there you wont pass.
where in california do you live? i have the same problem with smog but i just pulled it all out. ill put the smog sh*t in when the time comes

I noticed also that the edelbrock TB's are 50 state legal but it does not say that for the BBK model? Why is this? Are BBK TB's illegal or what? In all states or just some?

HAUS, just about everything here in california is illegal. only parts that are 50 state legal are ok for california. we are the reason parts say "50 state legal" cause if its legal in california, its legal anywhere. we have the strickest (stupidest) smog laws in the world (not exaggerating)

If you're not sure about an engine mod (i.e. Turbo, SC, head, intake, exhaust, FI, whatever..just look for the CARB#) This tells you it's smog legal. And...if it's legal in CA it's legal anywhere in the U.S. PA and CA have the stricktest smog laws.
