question about EGR
ive been getting really bored/bummed not workin on my car. so im trying to think of small easy things i could do so i dont have to be outside for a long period of time.
i dont have any emissions laws here, smog pump is gone, all other crap is gone too, only thing thats left is the egr valve. what would happen if i just disconnected the EGR, took the EGR spacer off and closed off the vacuum line? ive heard the computer eventually factors out the code thrown by having it unplugged. is this true? or do i have to buy that damn sensor delete thing to have it idle correctly?

EGR operation and idle control are not related (unless the valve is not seating 100%). As soon a an EGR related code is registered by the EEC, it does automatically delete its function w/out causing any idle, A/F or spark advance issues. The "damn sensor delete" only makes sure that the code registered is 33, which will not cause the CEL to turn on. A failure code 34 , 35 or 32, will cause the CEL to turn on, but will not cause any driveability or performance problems.

The computer knows to ignore it w/out the plug..... all it needs is an EGR failure code to show, the plug only prevents the CEL from turning on.
