The TKO's actually shift really well and will hit 3rd like clockwork EVERY time, IF you know the shifting technique(I found this out reading the net and stumbling across a thread where someone actually contacted TREMEC and spoke to one of their reps and found this out). You can't go up-over-up with the TKO's or you'll jam up between 3rd and 5th. Just push straight from 2nd to 3rd(almost straight forward to where you're afraid you might grab 1st), a straight diagonal line with no side movement(which is typical of most h patterns), and it goes right into 3rd every time, even at 6,500rpm. At least that's with the shifter they come with, can't say for certain if that's true of other shifters.
They can be a bit notchy on shifting because of the bronze blocker ring instead of carbon clutches, but after I broke mine in I haven't had any problems grabbing any gear(once I figured out the shift technique, did miss 3rd a couple times before that). It might feel notchy going in but it still goes in cleanly.
