T5....Do any of these parts need replacing?
#21
as you can see in this picture from Rosehill Performance Parts there is no contest between the aftermarket part on the left and the stock part on the right. Also the prices I quoted for replacement parts were through Rosehill as well

Im trying to scare up some gears from a local source.
I have the Z-spec t5 with the 330 rating...Told me the gears he had were SVO rated but didn't know what that meant torque wise. is SVO the harder gear?

I am sure Modern driveline caught this, but if you have a z-spec T5 than it has alloy gears and the replacement gears must aslo be of the aloy type. you can not mix and match gears that is why an upgrade kit comes with a new cluster and then 1st 2nd and 3rd

Right I figured that out last night at about 10:30pm all by myself...I said "hey the Z spec runs a different ratio than all other T5s. If its not a gear from a z-spec it will be the wrong diameter"
He told me what the tag number on my trans was before I even gave it to him..He knows his stuff.
Rebuilding this thing is like my own trans rebuild Skl When Im done I should know how the t5 works.
IS there anything I should be super careful of that you ran into when you did yours?

most of the questions i've had is how to get the main shaft out.
not really anything to worry about. just remove the bearing retainer, turn the input shaft until the cut out lines up with the counter shaft and pull out the input shaft. then remove the bearing cap on the tailshaft end by pull it out, dont drive it through.
this will cleearance you enough to get the main shaft out
if you need like a brief walkthrough of the whole deal let me know
