Default waterpump removal issues

my waterpump went out on my 88gt and as I was attempting to replace it 5 bolts broke off. no i wasn't using air tools or a huge breaker bar but the bolts are froze inside the waterpump. now, how do I go about getting it off with out pulling the motor. I know I am gonna have to drill and re tap but some of the bolts go into the motor and I don't know how deep they go in.

Good luck. When you re-install it use some anti-sieze on the bolts to help prevent the bolts from sticking.

to remove the timing cover don't you have to remove the oil pan which requires motor removal? atleast that's how my camaro was. can the timing cover be removed with the pump still atached?

No, just take the 4 front bolts out of the pan to remove the timing cover. As long as all the bolts are out, the pump can stay on the cover. But since you need to replace it, may as well get it out of the way first.

I got two bolts out but the other ones the head broke off because the bolt is seized inside the pump. so I don't know if I can try and drill the bolts to the block then remove the cover to acess the block so I can drill at the block also.

Break the ears off of the pump so it will come off.

There is only 4 of then that actually go through the pump and bolt into the block. If the heads are broken off, you should still be able to get the pump off w/ or w/o the timing cover.

The bolts may be seized to the pump even though there is no head.
