5.0 stock intake spacer..

i have a cobra intake with a 1" spacer. ive been told that if you pull off the underside liner that it will clear but havent tried it for myself. has anyone been through this. im putting my car back to the stock look and would love to put a stock hood back on it, so have any ideas?
